Fresh antipasto could include vegetables, cheese and crackers or bread and simple tapanades (made from olives or sundried tomatoes). You can follow one of our recipes and make it yourself or you could try some of the prepared versions we offer. Each one is a little different, most have tuna or seafood anf vegetables. Breadsticks or crackers make a nice compliment.

We are lucky to be located in California! The garlic capital is in our state and so is Castroville, the artichoke capital. An artichoke is a tight bud shaped vegetable harvested from a big thistly plant. Whoever discovered them had to be very lucky or have a great imagination. They actually don't look that appetizing, but looks can be deceving. When prepared properly, e there is nothing quite like them. We offer both marinated artichokes and artichokes in brine (so you can fix them yourself). In the cooler months, we are able to get fresh baby artichokes too. These are wonderful! They can be parboiled, quartered, breaded and fried. A seasonal memory your friends and family will love.

Capers are little buds from plants that grow in the mediterranean region. The tiniest ones (the ones harvested first) are called nonpariel and are a bit more costly than the others. These petite capers are great with fish or specialty salads. Most of them are packed in brine and they add a wonderful snappy sharpness to food. The buds get bigger as they are harvested later and are known as capote capers. You can use them the same way and they are a little more reasonable. We also carry capers in salt, when rinsed they have a unique flavor all their own. Caperberries are about the size of olives, but they sure don't taste like them! Try them in your next dirty martini!

Mustards, dressings, sauces, relishes and tapinades. Condiments can enhance the flavor of many foods. It is kind of like wine, a good one will bring out the flavor and make an ordinary meal extra special.

Eggplant is a purple, spongy vegetable with a mild flavor and wonderful possibilities. It is a little like a chameleon, it picks up the flavors of the ingredients nearby and offers them to us in their own unique way. Consequently, we are able to offer eggplant salads, pickled eggplant, marinated eggplant, grilled eggplant and a variety of caponatas. Caponata is a Sicilian specialty antipasto and eggplant is one of the main ingredients. As a matter of fact, check out our recipe pages, we have a wonderful recipe for it if you can get eggplants in your area.

We love olives and we carry a terrific variety! The green sicilian olives can be purchased whole or cracked. We make a spicy green olive salad that is just wonderful. Dry Moroccan olives, calamata olives, cerignola olives, tiny Nicoise and picoline olives from France, all kinds of stuffed olives; you name it, we've probably got it. We also carry olive tapanade, olive pastes and olive salad. Want to try something a little different? Try spreading a little green olive paste on your next tuna sandwich...what a treat!

Peppers are a big part of Italian cuisine and we've got a terrific selection. We even bottle a nice variety of them ourselves. Pepperoncini, roasted peppers, cherry peppers, banana wax peppers, pepper strips, dices, sliced and concocted into wonderful salads and spreads; you are going to love these products. We also offer pepper shooters (stuffed with provolone and prosciutto) and a great selection of other stuffed specialty peppers. Hot or mild, we've got the pepper for you!

Italy is surrounded by water, so it should come as no surprise that we would be absolutely obsessed by seafood. We offer a nice selection of anchovies, sardines, mackeral, bacala, clams, oysters, mussels and scungelli. Smoked, salted, in oil, in water or in sauce, we try to carry a nice variety to suit every taste. If you don't find what you want on our website call us toll Wfree at 800-507-0450, we probably have it!
